Every business process is being radically transformed by digital, and successful companies understand that to compete, they must think “digital first.” IT systems within organizations create logs of events, that can then be analyzed to optimize the underlying business processes and identify inefficiencies to make better business predictions.
The automated application of this is defined as process mining.
Process Discovery: given log files of business processes or IT processes, find the underlying process model
Process Conformance Analysis: given log data and a pre-defined process model, analyze how well the actual process executions conform to the process model (e.g. for compliance test or to discover options for process improvements)
Process Performance Analysis: analyze the efficiency of processes, identify bottlenecks, time-thieves, and other opportunities for process improvement
