Tips & Tricks: Get Wisdom of Crowds

Tips & Tricks (Level 1)

Get “Wisdom of Crowds” – Enable the Recommender

Do you ever wonder what another data scientist would do if they were in your shoes? Wonder no more.

Similar to Amazon recommendations, RapidMiner shows you which operator other data scientists would use next if they were building your process. We call this “Wisdom of Crowds,” and it is a function of the Recommender in RapidMiner Studio. In addition to operator recommendations, Wisdom of Crowds makes recommendations on parameters you can use for a selected operator. Not only is this a great tool for beginning users, expert RapidMiner users also love to use this as a short-cut for creating their processes.

The image below shows both types of recommendations:

  1. Parameters other data scientists have applied to the “Select Attributes” operator
  2. Operators you might want to use next in your predictive analytics process

How are these recommendations calculated?
Wisdom of Crowds recommendations are derived from the activities of more than 700,000 RapidMiner users across the globe. This data is anonymously gathered and stored in a best-practice knowledge base. RapidMiner Studio applies machine learning to these data to identify situations similar to yours and provide the next-step recommendations that update continuously as you build your process.
