Thanks RapidMiner Community, for the role you played in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms!
Last year, several members of the the RapidMiner community responded to queries from the industry analyst firm Gartner, as a team of analysts researched the first-ever Gartner Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms. This week, Gartner released its findings, and RapidMiner is in the Leaders quadrant!
Of course, the RapidMiner community has always been supportive and deserves much credit for the success of RapidMiner – providing valuable input on new features to add, helping each other in our online forums, contributing extensions to the Marketplace, and blogging and presenting at industry conferences about how and why they use RapidMiner to analyze and predict customer churn, potential QA issues, factory floor breakdowns, and more.
We are grateful for your support, and proud that RapidMiner is such an asset that so many people are willing to participate in this way.
Some of our community may be questioning the category of Advanced Analytics, because they think of, and use, RapidMiner for data mining, text mining or predictive analytics. But in speaking with analysts, we have found a majority of analyst firms prefer Advanced Analytics, which is generally focused on platforms for forecasting future events and behaviors, and helping predict the effects of potential changes in business strategies. This field includes tools and techniques from both statistics and computer science, while data mining, big data analytics, and predictive analytics all fall under this category.
We believe that our placement in the Leaders quadrant reflects our status as one of the world’s most frequently downloaded predictive analytics software tools and the support of a user community made up of the most brilliant data scientists, business analysts managers and technical people in the world.
