Ingo Mierswa is an industry-veteran data scientist since starting to develop RapidMiner at the Artificial Intelligence Division of the TU Dortmund University in Germany. Mierswa, the scientist, has authored numerous award-winning publications about predictive analytics and big data. Mierswa, the entrepreneur, is the founder of RapidMiner. Under his leadership RapidMiner has grown up to 300% per year over the past five years. In 2012, he spearheaded the go-international strategy with the opening of offices in the US.
Michele Chambers is an entrepreneurial executive with over 25 years of industry experience. Chambers has books published by Wiley and Pearson FT Press on Big Data and Modern Analytics. Prior to RapidMiner, Chambers held executive leadership roles at database and analytic companies, Netezza, Revolution Analytics and MemSQL. Chambers has been responsible for strategy, sales, marketing, product management, channels and business development. Chambers holds a BS in Computer Engineering from Nova Southeastern University and an MBA from Duke University.
With more than 25 years of experience, Baltier is a veteran of computer software and technology industries. Most recently he was chief financial officer of Gizmox, a leader in the HTML5 mobile application space. Previously, he was the chief financial officer for StreamBase Systems, a leader in complex event processing (CEP) that was acquired by TIBCO. Baltier has also served as the CFO of XyEnterprise, Reef Point Systems and Phonetic Systems.
Jon Shepherd is a seasoned, start-up, technology sales executive with more than 20 years of experience building high performing sales teams. Prior to his current role at RapidMiner, Jon was SVP/Sales at EagleEye Analytics. Previously, Jon was VP/GM at Netezza where he ran the worldwide sales organization in charge of helping companies deploy advanced analytics and geospatial software solutions. Jon has had executive management roles at Netezza, Silknet/Kana, CODA, and was Founder of Direct Link Flowers and Courthouse Data. He was named one of the Top 10 Entrepreneurs under 35 in Georgia. Jon is a frequent speaker at software and government industry events discussing the value of big data, location data, analytics and fact based decision making.
Simon Fischer heads up RapidMiner’s industry leading technical engineering team in Dortmund, Germany. Since joining the company in 2009, Simon manages a growing R&D department that is responsible for building and improving the RapidMiner Modern Analytics Platform. Simon also manages several nationally and internationally funded data science research projects. Simon, along with Ingo Mierswa and Ralf Klinkenberg, started the YALE project (which later became RapidMiner) at the AI unit at TU Dortmund in 2001. Simon holds a Master’s degree from TU Dortmund and a PhD in computer science from RWTH Aachen.
Marla Mierswa is an integral part of the RapidMiner office, culture and team. She’s much more than a yellow labrador, she’s our Chief Furry Officer. Prior to joining RapidMiner, Marla was a resident of Gelsenkirchen Shelter. Her daily duties include being adorable, delivering the mail, performing automated box disposal services, managing our recycling operations, and ensuring that our floors are entirely free of any food whatsoever. She also maintains a faithful watch on the front door, reception desk and grounds surrounding our HQ in Cambridge, MA. Marla holds certifications from multiple training academies and awards for swim therapy.
Usama Fayyad is the executive chairman at Oasis500 and the Chairman and CTO at ChoozOn Corp (Blue Kangaroo.) Previously he founded Open Insights LLC and was Yahoo’s chief data officer. He co-founded the DMX Group and Audience Science (digiMine, Inc.) and led data mining & Exploration at Microsoft Research. He also worked at NASA.
JJ Sendelbach is the founder and managing director of Doublejay Consulting, C-level consultants to the consulting and technology industry. Sendelbach is also a member of the board of directors for PHI Vault and DB Alumni. Previously he was a partner at Droege & Company, New York; the COO at WestLB, New York, Deutsche Bank, North America and Deutsche Bank Capital Markets, Japan.
Jason Whitmire is a Partner at Earlybird Venture Capital where he focuses on Cloud Computing, Analytics and Mobility. Jason has built, led and exited two companies which reached global leadership (FSMLabs and Wind River Systems). Prior to that Jason co-founded the software business at Comneon (one of the fastest growing mobile software companies in history).
Patrik Backman is a Managing Partner at Open Ocean Capital Oy. Before co-founding Open Ocean’s venture capital operation, Backman was part of the MySQL management team. Backman is a co-founder of SkySQL Ab, board member at Nosto Oy and has been adviser to Open Ocean portfolio companies WOT Services, Commerce Guys, Zentyal, Nordic Telecom and TrueCaller.
Luke Burns is a Partner at Ascent Venture Partners where he invests in high growth companies with a focus on cloud, data analytics and security. Prior to Ascent, he was cofounder and CEO of Emercis Corporation, a provider of e-commerce software tools for the enterprise, and was a strategy consultant with Bain & Company.
Nilanjana Bhowmik is a Partner at Longworth Venture Partners where she has been investing in early stage technology companies for over a decade. Her current investment focus includes cloud infrastructure, big data, mobile and IoT. Prior to Longworth, Nilanjana was an investment banker with Broadview (Jefferies) and a senior executive at Object Design, the maker of the pioneer object-oriented database, Objectstore.
Prof. Dr. Katharina Morik is head of the Artificial Intelligence Unit at the University of Dortmund, Germany. She was one of the founders of the research on machine learning and data mining in Germany and is an internationally acknowledged expert in machine learning, data mining, and knowledge discovery. Among many other research and industry projects, she coordinated and lead the successful multi-national European research project Mining Mart covering research on and applications of innovative data mining technology.
Prof. Dr. Thorsten Joachims is associate professor at the Department of Computer Science at the Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, USA. He is an internationally acknowledged expert in machine learning, support vector machines, statistical learning theory, text classification, text mining, web mining, information retrieval, and intelligent information systems.
