Ingo Mierswa is an industry-veteran data scientist since starting to develop RapidMiner at the Artificial Intelligence Division of the University of Dortmund, Germany. Mierswa, the scientist, has authored numerous award-winning publications about predictive analytics and big data. Mierswa, the entrepreneur, is the founder of RapidMiner. Under his leadership RapidMiner has grown up to 300% per year over the past five years. In 2012, he spearheaded the go-international strategy with the opening of offices in the US.
Before joining RapidMiner, Andy Menzies was senior vice president of Worldwide Field Operations at StreamBase Systems, Inc. Prior to StreamBase, Menzies held executive leadership roles at complex event processing start-ups StreamBase and Apama where he built and executed go-to-market strategies culminating in high growth and successful exits. Progress Software acquired Apama in April 2005 and TIBCO acquired StreamBase June 2013. Menzies is an industry veteran and has also held sales management positions at Business Objects, Cognos, SAP and Siebel.
Prior to joining RapidMiner, Andrew Dinsmore was a Managing Director with Elmscroft LLC, a financial and operational management consulting firm. Prior to founding Elmscroft, Dinsmore served as the CFO/COO of the M&A advisory firm Stuart Lammert & Co, and was the M&A lead for technology, aerospace and defense. He has also been a consultant with the BottomLine Group and A.T. Kearney. Dinsmore began his career as a spacecraft systems engineer for Spar Aerospace.
Bobbie Carlton is an award-winning marketing, PR and social media professional. She is the founder of Mass Innovation Nights and Carlton PR & Marketing. In addition to working with a number of Boston-area PR and marketing firms, she headed global public relations at Cognos (now IBM), one of the leading vendors of Business Intelligence solutions, and Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC). In 2011 she was a recipient of a Mass High Tech All-star award.
Prior to joining RapidMiner, Giuseppe Taibi held executive positions at Quitnet, WEGOHealth, and Soundtracker Radio. Taibi began his career as the founder of Altoprofilo, which focused on the design and implementation of innovative web services for business and consumer markets. While there, he was also a founding member of the International Council at Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
Jason Whitmire is a Partner at Earlybird Venture Capital where he focuses on Cloud Computing, Analytics and Mobility. Jason has built, led and exited two companies which reached global leadership (FSMLabs and Wind River Systems). Prior to that Jason co-founded the software business at Comneon (one of the fastest growing mobile software companies in history).
Patrik Backman is a Managing Partner at Open Ocean Capital Oy. Before co-founding Open Ocean’s venture capital operation, Backman was part of the MySQL management team. Backman is a co-founder of SkySQL Ab, board member at Nosto Oy and has been adviser to Open Ocean portfolio companies WOT Services, Commerce Guys, Zentyal, Nordic Telecom and TrueCaller.
JJ Sendelbach is the founder and managing director of Doublejay Consulting, C-level consultants to the consulting and technology industry. Sendelbach is also a member of the board of directors for PHI Vault and DB Alumni. Previously he was a partner at Droege & Company, New York; the COO at WestLB, New York, Deutsche Bank, North America and Deutsche Bank Capital Markets, Japan.
Usama Fayyad is the executive chairman at Oasis500 and the Chairman and CTO at ChoozOn Corp (Blue Kangaroo.) Previously he founded Open Insights LLC and was Yahoo’s chief data officer. He co-founded the DMX Group and Audience Science (digiMine, Inc.) and led data mining & Exploration at Microsoft Research. He also worked at NASA.
Prof. Dr. Katharina Morik is head of the Artificial Intelligence Unit at the University of Dortmund, Germany. She was one of the founders of the research on machine learning and data mining in Germany and is an internationally acknowledged expert in machine learning, data mining, and knowledge discovery. Among many other research and industry projects, she coordinated and lead the successful multi-national European research project Mining Mart covering research on and applications of innovative data mining technology.
Prof. Dr. Thorsten Joachims is associate professor at the Department of Computer Science at the Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, USA. He is an internationally acknowledged expert in machine learning, support vector machines, statistical learning theory, text classification, text mining, web mining, information retrieval, and intelligent information systems.
